Frequently Asked Questions

The text below briefly covers the most common questions asked about the Xpress Press News Service. If you have any questions not covered by this FAQ, or want more detailed information, please feel to send a message to news@xpresspress.com, or phone 954-989-3338 or 800-713-7701 and a staff person will be happy to discuss your particular assignment.

  • How is Xpress Press different than other services.

Since our Internet debut in 1995, many PR support services have opened and shut their doors. Although you, the client, may not understand the differences between the various PR services, we make it our job to know the differences. Our staff will help you through the PR process and advise you on your best value.

Xpress Press uses e-mail and web-based technologies to distribution news releases to reporters. If you want to reach reporters by e-mail, choose Xpress Press. E-mail contact works and, is better than many other methods because it is a more personal method of communication when handled professionally.

Xpress Press began as an e-wire to distribute the exploding number of web and technology news stories on the Internet. Since that time, our contact lists have grown as more reporters adopted e-mail and web-based tools to assist in their news gathering efforts. Experience counts, and we have plenty. There is not a single firm on the Internet that knows how to send press releases and media alerts to reporters better than Xpress Press.

We are the ONLY service targeting news individually by e-mail to reporters across all beats. We don't have limits on how many e-mails we can send to reporters. We carefully read all material before it is sent. We maintain phone lines that you can call to discuss your story before it is sent. When you run a story with Xpress Press, you work with a dedicated team of media professionals who understand the media and how they work.

Can you get my story to appear in Yahoo?

Yahoo and many financial websites are pure 'Pay to Play' when it comes to story placement. Xpress Press has expanded our service to include online and database placement of stories but this may not be necessary for all our clients. If your story needs to meet SEC disclosure requirements or is of interest to investors then this service is manditory. Otherwise, please call our offices and let a media professional advise you on the best value for your media buy.

When will my release be sent?

Press releases are sent either same day or within 24 hours. You may specify a date and time to have the release sent. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday however, Saturday and Sunday distribution is available with advanced notice.

  • May I send a photograph with my release?
Xpress Press does not send HTML e-mail with embedded photographs. However, we do encourage out clients to supply links to images that are available for use by reporters. This can be done by inserting an image link in the news release. Xpress Press can host company logos, screen shots and other images on our servers so they can be included within the online version of your release. There is a nominal fee for this service but it is highly recommended if your story is product related.

  • Where will my story appear?

PR measurement and monitoring is a constant challenge for ALL PR service providers. At Xpress Press, we test and monitor various industry products that can meet our client's needs for measuring the success rate of their publicity efforts.

Clients who purchase our database and site placement service will receive brief 'clip report' detailing 10-12 online locations of their story. E-mail service clients receive a list of media points reached with the news release. E-mail reporting also includes tips for promoting the placement of your news release to search engines.

All our client news is published at the Xpress Press website and sites that publish our streaming headlines. Due to Xpress Press' link popularity and site size, news that is published at XpressPress.com and SoftwareWire.com is often picked up by search engines with referrals back to our clients. Additionally, Xpress Press provides a "journalists only" web-based feed for reporters who prefer to read stories via a web browser.

We have included links to established clipping services that track company news on a fee basis.

An additional suggestion to enhance the chance that your story will be covered is to time your release right or tie-in to a current hot topic. If you have a news release that appeals to shoppers at Christmas time, remember that print editors work on a three month advance deadline. That means they need to receive your news item in September or October for the December issue. This often applies to feature stories or stories written by contributing writers for various publications. The same rule would apply if your company will be represented by a speaker, or participating in a trade show such as COMDEX.

  • Does a staff person read my release?

An Xpress Press editor reads every release sent to our company. If a release does not meet our editorial standards, a staff person will phone or e-mail with recommended changes.

  • Can Xpress Press write a release for me?

Writers are available to edit your supplied release or write a press release. Fill in our online form to the best of your ability and include key points about your product, site or service. A writer will contact you and conduct a brief interview. A draft version of the release will be sent by e-mail for approval and/or revisions.

  • How do I pay for The Xpress Press Service, may I send a company check?

The Xpress Press News Release Service accepts MasterCard and Visa. We do have clients who send company checks with a diskette via overnight mail. Payment is required in advance. The news distribution is sent once the check has been received. Please enclose a hard copy of the news and a PC compatible disk. The mailing address is:
