No Fats, No Fillers in Selerant’s EU Food Claims Webinar
NEW YORK (November 16, 2006) -- Selerant (www.selerant.com) announces its next Synergy webinar series will focus on the upcoming European Union food claim regulations. “This regulation not only impacts corporations based in Europe, but any corporation producing or distributing food products in Europe,” states Jacopo Colombo, Selerant’s Chief Technology Officer. “We have offices both in the States and in Europe, and have heard a great deal about the headaches our clients have from trying to keep up with a consistently changing state of compliance issues.”
These changes can mire many corporate regulatory departments. People working in these departments can find just one government agency’s regulatory compliance issue changes daunting, but when combined with a series of multiple countries, the regulations can seem almost impossible to navigate. Not only must regulatory issues be complied with for each product line, but for each individual product in every country producing or distributing it.
Complicated as this may be, regulatory departments may be bracing for an even bigger avalanche of paperwork. Corporations may already be familiar with the mandates made by the FDA, but will soon be made even more so as the European Union is expected to announce the regulation that reinforces the demand to substantiate health and nutrient claims made on foods. In addition, there are already rumblings of other countries to adopt Food Claim label regulations in the near future.
The revolving door of compliance changes seems to be spinning out of control causing both motion sickness and a splitting headache for corporations and their aforementioned legal and regulatory department. To alleviate as well as illuminate, Selerant will focus an entire webinar solely on regulatory compliance, with two speakers:
Antonio Riganelli, Selerant’s Regulatory Director, will demonstrates how corporations can easily prepare documentation for the newly mandated label claim documentation with standardized templates. “The label claim documentation itself can be extremely confusing when working on a global market,” says Riganelli. “I will be clarifying the ambiguities of the future nutritional and health claim regulations. Once we have explained the regulations and the impact, I will explain how you can adhere to the regulations, but still dramatically expedite the process with streamlined technology.”
Afterwards, Jacopo Colombo, Selerant’s Chief Technology Officer, will expand on Selerant’s library of standardized regulatory templates to discuss how corporations can prepare for global regulatory compliance of foods: ingredient statement generation, nutritional facts, etc. “Our customers and our future customers span continents and need to see solutions that allow them to comply with multiple government agencies in a global market instead of going about compliance one set of issues at a time,” states Colombo. “Our vision for a global market most definitely includes global compliance and that includes streamlined processes without sacrificing strict adherence to regulatory compliance. We can alleviate the confusion and frustration the changing regulations can cause and give the regulatory department of these corporations the relief they need.”
