Angels Descend on Cybercard:
Management buy-in anticipates sales of $100 million by 2005.
Cambridge, England/Colorado Springs, CO - December 29, 1999/XpressPress/ -
Two business angels chose this holiday season as the perfect
moment to invest their time, money, and reputations in Cybercard (
http://www.USGreetingcards.com), the Internet printer of personalized greeting cards.
Cybercard offers consumers both free ecards and custom designed real cards which can be printed and mailed anywhere in the world for $3.75 each.
Two Cambridge, England-based entrepreneurs, Jonathan Armour and Eric Jones, have teamed on the $500,000 management buy-in which aims to propel Cybercard to $100 million in sales and $16 million in profits by 2005 to make Cybercard's on demand digital printing a leading Internet business.
"I see Cybercard as an outstanding opportunity," explained Armour. "It marries two leading edge technologies (the Internet, and digital printing), in order to provide a unique product and service. The world greeting cards market will be worth $24 billion by 2005 and a mere 0.4% market share would give Cybercard sales of $100 million."
Jonathan Armour was founder and commercial director of a rapidly expanding software development company which he sold to a major publishing group. He has extensive experience in sales, marketing and product development, and has joined Cybercard as Business Development Director in charge of overseeing the development of the mixture of product and service which is Cybercard.
Eric Jones is an entrepreneur whose corporate finance skills will free up the Cybercard Board from fundraising and enable them to focus on new business development. He plans to raise an additional $10 million for Cybercard within 6 months to drive international expansion.
The completion of this week's private capital placement gives Cybercard $500,000 in cash and services to accelerate its expansion plans which include the debut of a Spanish website in January (in addition to its French, German, UK and US sites) followed in May 2000 by the launch of a Millennium website for the 21st Century.
CybercardUSA, based in Security, CO, became the exclusive US franchisee of Cybercard in January 1998. "This is very exciting for us," said CybercardUSA President Ed Duffy. "Our customer feedback tells us the concept is a winner. Now we'll have the resources to get the word out on a global scale."
CybercardUSA at http://www.USGreetingcards.com offers both free ecards and custom designed real cards which they print and mail to anywhere in the world for $3.75 each. Print shops located in the UK and the US allow for rapid delivery of cards across the Atlantic.
